Kanye West's 'Yeezus' officially debuts at #1 on Billboard 200

Billboard reports that Kanye West’s Yeezus has sold 327,000 copies to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200. It’s the best week for a rap album since Drake’s Take Care sold 631,000 in November 2011.

This is Kanye’s sixth #1 album and sixth straight #1 in a row. The only album that didn’t reach the top was his debut,The College Dropout, which debuted and peaked at #2. His albums also includes the 2011 collaborative album with Jay-Z called Watch the Throne.

His six number one albums ties him for second in the most #1s in rap history with Eminem in Nas. The only one who has more is Jay-Z with 12.

Yeezus also had the third-highest sales week this year, behind the debuts of Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience (968,000) and Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories (339,000). It is, however, West’s lowest sales debut yet, as all of his previous albums debuted with more than 400,000.

Other sales numbers from this week: Cole’s sophomore project Born Sinner sold over 297,000 copies, respectively. Rounding out the Top 3 is Mac Miller’sWatching Movies With The Sound Off, which moved over 100,000 copies during its first week.
